NW0117b - The Amended EIA Directive - Transitioning English planning, DCO and More Regimes

A series of co-ordinated EIA consultations has been launched across the UK by DCLG, DEFRA, and the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish Governments. From introducing health, competent expert requirements and monitoring to amending screening, scoping and co-ordinating Habitats Directive assessments, the outcome of this consultation will shape the future of EIA for years to come.

This workshop is your opportunity to hear about the details across these proposals, discuss how they will influence future practice and contribute to IEMA’s consultation responses.

EXT0117 - BESS Science into Practice

BESS is a 6-year, £15M research programme (2012-2017) comprising >150 researchers across the UK working on the linkages between biodiversity and ecosystem services, and how these linkages might change under uncertain futures.

This meeting at the Royal Society is an opportunity for stakeholders and practitioners to:

  • hear the latest evidence and progress on tool development
  • give feedback and suggestions on how to take our findings forward for practical application

There is no registration fee for the meeting (it’s free!), but you will need to book as places are limited and it will be first-come, first-served. Please notify toshiko.smith@york.ac.uk by end-December 2016. A full programme will be available nearer the time.

The National Low Emission Framework is a key component of the Cleaner Air for Scotland strategy. This workshop will:

  • Provide stakeholders with an update on NLEF guidance and tool development prior to the formal NLEF consultation process in Spring.
  • Seek stakeholder views on the following:
    • the draft NLEF guidance being prepared by Transport Scotland with support from Atkins.
    • their expectations, needs and wants regarding NLEF.
  • Support the identification of early adopter(s) for LEZ(s) to be put in place by 2018.
